#MarleyDidntMakeIt

Our society has normalized the militarized police response to mental health crisis in our country. Marley Didn't Make It seeks alternative solutions, which allow for appropriate interventions, focused response and effective care.

Who is Marley?

Marley is the voice of all of those who have been affected by militarized police response to mental health crisis.
The first Marley was David Page's best friend, a red-eared slider. He was killed by SWAT moments before they also took David's life.

What's the Problem?

People with untreated mental illness are 16 times more likely to be killed during a police encounter than other civilians approached or stopped by law enforcement. (0002)

In fact...

Statistics are hard to come by, but Washington Post and Fatal Encounters agree that police killed around 1000 people in the US in 2019. That's nearly 3 per day.

And the families...

... are often left with broken hearts, few resources, and little support.

What We Are Doing

We are changing the way our society views police homicide. Through education, networking and action, we can make a positive difference in the lives of all those affected.
